TT SUPERSPORT AMENDED RESULT

McAdoo Kawasaki rider Ian Hutchinson was this evening stripped of his second-place finish in the Isle of Man TT Supersport race after being disqualified on a technicality. Scrutineers discovered the Yorkshireman's ZX6-R machine was in breach of TT rules on motorcycle specifications.

The discrepancy was picked up in a routine inspection following the Bingley-based rider's second-place finish in today's Supersport race which was won by HM Plant Honda rider John McGuinness.

The exhaust camshaft lift on Hutchinson's bike was found to have measured 7.25millimetres instead of the regulation 7ml although race organisers stressed the infringement was inadvertent.

TT officials insisted there was no suggestion of cheating - the discrepancy was a result of components that had been independently supplied to the McAdoo team and would have given Hutchinson no power advantage.

Hutchinson's disqualification meant TAS Suzuki rider Bruce Anstey was promoted from third to second while Jason Griffiths, who rode the Buildbase Piranha Yamaha R6, was awarded third place after having earlier been placed fourth.
